Following Super Storm Sandy Senator Greg Ball Secures Funding North Salem Library Generator
Brewster, N.Y. – 7/24/2013 – Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) Chairman of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee is happy to announce that The Ruth Keeler Memorial Library in North Salem will receive a total of $32,250 in grants for two projects, a generator and water disinfection system.
Ball successfully secured a $20,000 bullet aid grant for the library and has also recently announced a $12,250 construction grant awarded by The New York State Library.
The Ruth Keeler Memorial Library will use the funding to obtain and install a Generac 20-KW standby generator. This is an imperative piece of equipment to have in case of power outages from storms, much like what happened after Super Storm Sandy. With the generator installed the library will be readily available during future emergency situations. Additionally, the library requires a water purification system to remove contaminates from the water.
“The Ruth Keeler Library is a vital asset for residents, serving both as a center for academics as well as a community center,” said Senator Ball. “I am glad to help the library secure funds to improve their facilities. During the recent storms this library has become a community center for residents to gather, this grant will allow the library to have power in the event of another storm or power outage.”
“North Salem appreciates Senator Ball’s effective representation of our interests in Albany. Funds are quite difficult to acquire now and we are grateful for his demonstrated resourcefulness,” said Town Councilman Bruce Buchholtz. “The generous grants that Greg helped obtain for our Ruth Keeler Memorial Library will be spent on a generator and water chlorination system, helping our residents to benefit from the services and sanctuary that the library provides during crisis.”
