WASHINGTON – It was a day to remember as some 50 veterans of World War II from Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess counties traveled by bus to the nation’s capital on Tuesday, met with federal representatives, and toured the sights.

Among those with whom they met were Congressmen Christopher Gibson (R, NY19) and Sean Patrick Maloney (D, NY18).

Gibson, a retired career Army officer, had nothing but praise for the vets.

“It was a moment to reflect on the tremendous contributions of the World War II generation. We owe them so much, protecting our freedoms, coming home, getting married, raising a family, and helping make America strong,” Gibson said after meeting with the group. “They are certainly an inspiration to me and to my generation and we deeply thank them for everything.”

The trip was arraigned by State Senator Gregory Ball (R, Patterson), Heroes in Transition and the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 21. (ARTICLE)
