COMMENDING Belinda Pagdanganan upon the occasion
of her retirement after nearly 29 years of
distinguished service as Manager of Government
Relations for Suffolk County
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those
individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Belinda Pagdanganan upon the occasion of her retirement after
nearly 29 years of distinguished service as Manager of Government
Relations for Suffolk County; and
WHEREAS, Belinda "Bel" Pagdanganan earned her Bachelor of Arts
degree in economics from the University of the Philippines and her
Master of Business Administration degree from Dowling College; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her long and distinguished career, Belinda
Pagdanganan held the title of Manager of Government Relations for
Suffolk County; in this capacity, she worked closely with all levels of
government to build working relationships, collaborate closely with
stakeholders, especially elected officials, advocate for the company's
interests before policy makers, and protect the company's reputation;
and
WHEREAS, In this position, Belinda Pagdanganan also worked with
National Grid, continuing her proactive efforts to advance the company's
initiative with elected officials and relevant stakeholders in the areas
of gas infrastructure expansion/investment, resiliency and storm
preparedness, consumer advocacy programs, gas safety and reliability,
compliance and gas system integrity; and
WHEREAS, Belinda Pagdanganan also worked in emergency planning for
the Shoreham Nuclear Power Plant and then focused on utility
preparedness under the former LILCO/KeySpan Corporation; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Belinda Pagdanganan served as the Suffolk County
Director of Emergency Preparedness and later, as Deputy Commissioner of
Suffolk County's Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services; and
WHEREAS, For over 25 years, Belinda Pagdanganan has been an active
member of the Brentwood Fire Department, where she served as Captain of
the Fire Prevention Company for 10 years and is currently, a member of
Engine Company 5; and
WHEREAS, Belinda Pagdanganan serves as a Trustee of Suffolk County
Community College and is a participant of the College Foundation's Board
of Directors; and
WHEREAS, A proud Filipina, Belinda Pagdanganan has been a
participant of the Suffolk County Asian American Advisory Board for
approximately 15 years; and
WHEREAS, For the past 29 years, Belinda Pagdanganan rendered
faithful, conscientious and valuable service to Suffolk County; in her
capacity as Manager of Government Relations, she served with loyalty,
honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Belinda Pagdanganan was governed by a
keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems;
and
WHEREAS, During her tenure with Suffolk County, Belinda Pagdanganan
earned the admiration, esteem and affection of her colleagues; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Belinda Pagdanganan upon the occasion of her retirement after
nearly 29 years of distinguished service as Manager of Government
Relations for Suffolk County, and to wish her well in all her future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Belinda Pagdanganan.
