SILLITTI -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Local Governments AN ACT to amend the Nassau county civil divisions act, in relation to the name and the funds of the corporation THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Sections 614.0, 614.1, 614.3 and 614.6 of the Nassau county civil divisions act, as added by chapter 73 of the laws of 1940, are amended to read as follows: § 614.0 Incorporation. The membership corporation by the name of "Alert Volunteer Exempt [Firemen's] FIREFIGHTER'S Benevolent Associ- ation, of Great Neck, New York," is hereby continued. § 614.1 Persons eligible to membership. Any person who is now or here- after becomes a member in good standing of the Alert Engine, Hook and Ladder and Hose Company No. 1, of Great Neck, New York, and any person residing in the area protected by such fire company who has reserved for a period of five years as a volunteer member of such company and has been honorably discharged therefrom, and any person residing in such area who has received his certificate as an exempt [fireman] FIREFIGHTER from such company or from any other volunteer fire company, shall be eligible to membership therein. Any [fireman] FIREFIGHTER, however, who has been removed for cause, expelled or dropped from the rolls of any fire company or department shall not be eligible to membership in such corporation. § 614.3 Powers and duties. a. Such corporation shall have all of the powers of a membership corporation, and the provisions of law relating to membership corporations shall apply to such corporation except where they conflict with the provisions of this article. b. Such corporation shall have the power to become a member of any state, county or national [firemen's] FIREFIGHTER'S association, organ- ized for kindred purposes, now or hereafter created, and to pay dues therein or contribute to the support thereof. c. The Alert Engine, Hook and Ladder and Hose Company No. 1 may trans- fer and convey to such corporation, with or without consideration, any EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
