Award: Constituent of the Month

Specialist Veronica Reid is an honorably discharged female veteran who served in the United States Army.  Her years of service, from November 1983 to January 1988, were saluted by receiving the Army Service Ribbon.

Ms. Reid joined Black Veterans for Social Justice, Inc. in 2003, and began her tenure as a case manager.  She is currently the Officer of Veteran Services.  She has the sole responsibility of developing, enhancing and working with public officials and legislators to promote new initiatives and funding for homeless veterans, their families and especially women veterans with children.

The success of the veteran programs of Black Veterans for Social Justice is a direct result of her tireless efforts and commitment to service.  Her work has always been characterized by an impressive enthusiasm and an uncompromising standard of excellence to ensure organizational performance and to make certain that same excellence is transferred to each veteran and their family as well as our community.  She is an example for all who desire to work or provide services to veterans.

In recognition of outstanding veterans from the Empire State who have distinguished themselves both in military and civilian life, Specialist Reid was inducted into the NYS Senate Veterans Hall of Fame in May of 2013.
