County officials worry about bail reform 'unknown'

The Community Justice Coordinating Council, comprised of county officials from various departments, met this week in Mayville to discuss ongoing criminal justice related topics. Concerns regarding the ramifications of impending bail reform mandated by New York state were discussed at the last two meetings.

“We are in the state of the unknown,” said Chautauqua County Sheriff Jim Quattrone on bail reform.

Quattrone and Chautauqua County District Attorney Patrick Swanson have both raised their own concerns at the June and July meetings regarding the implementation and ramifications of bail reform.
