With voting rights under assault across the nation, it's up to us to strengthen our state laws to protect our sacred rights here in New York.
Join Senator Anna M. Kaplan, Senator Zellnor Y. Myrie, NAACP New York State Conference President Dr. Hazel N. Dukes, and community leaders from around the state for a virtual discussion about the continued threat to voting rights in New York, and what YOU can do to help enact meaningful change in our community.
Participants will learn more about the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act of New York, legislation sponsored by Senator Myrie and co-sponsored by Senator Kaplan, which will fulfill for New Yorkers the original promise of the federal Voting Rights Act while adding new protections to ensure that all eligible voters have the ability to participate in the political process. Participants will leave the program armed with the tools needed to help advocate for this important legislation and help make New York State the national leader in voting rights and democratic participation.
