NYS SEN. JAMES SANDERS JR. (D-QUEENS) HOSTS COMMUNITY LEADERS MEETING REGARDING GARNER DECISION
Senator James Sanders Jr. (D-Queens) and community leaders will meet to discuss the potential impact of the Eric Garner Grand Jury Decision and how we can work together to ensure we keep our community safe. In light of the Ferguson, Missouri decision and the unfortunate riot and chaos that ensued, we are inviting community leaders to discuss the state of community and police relations in a productive fashion. Demonstrations have sparked all across America and the media has given a lot of attention to police brutality and the killings of civilians. Several months ago in Staten Island, Eric Garner unfortunately lost his life while being restrained in a chokehold. The officer responsible for the death of Eric Garner is currently awaiting the decision of the grand jury. While we do not know the outcome of the verdict, it is important for community leaders in Queens to join forces and organize the community in advance of the Eric Garner Grand Jury Decision that may come down soon. Food will be served at the event.
