State Senator James Sanders Jr. (D-Rochdale Village) will commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Abolition of Slavery with a panel discussion from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at the Black Spectrum Theatre, Roy Wilkins Park, 177th Street & Baisely Boulevard, Jamaica, NY 11434. Our special guests will include Dr. Kellie Carter Jackson, professor of history at Hunter College, and Dr. Deirdre Cooper Owens, assistant professor of history at Queens College.
Join us as we ponder questions of whether slavery has been abolished completely and how we can fight against modern day slavery.
