Let's Talk Cannabis - How to Start a Business / Get Records Expunged

Senator James Sanders Jr. (D-Queens) is hosting a cannabis event on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 12 Noon live in-person at the Ocean Bay Cornerstone Community Center and online on his Facebook page.

This event comes on the heels of the recent legislation legalizing cannabis in New York State. Many people have questions about how to start cannabis businesses and / or how to get their marijuana convictions expunged. 

There is a lot of speculation surrounding what implementation of this law will look like. It is coming to our community, whether we want it or not; so how can we work to stay on top of things and ensure that social equity applicants receive their fair share of the pie.

Rep. Billy Mitchell (D-Georgia) - President of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators,  the nation's premier organization representing and serving the interests of African American State legislators, will deliver opening remarks.

Kevin Greene, the Vice President of the Cleveland School of Cannabis, will speak about the big picture of the cannabis industry and business and job opportunities outside of just obtaining a license.

For a long time marijuana has hurt black and brown communities. Now, we have the opportunity to start anew, expunge marijuana convictions and perhaps even start a cannabis business, selling the substance legally and safely to explain further will be guest speaker Imani Dawson - Executive Director of the Cannabis Education Advocacy Symposium and Expo (C.E.A.S.E.), a nonprofit organization with a mission to increase awareness and to educate vulnerable communities disproportionately impacted by cannabis prohibition.
