In observance of the 3rd anniversary of Superstorm Sandy, State Senator James Sanders Jr., Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo Jr. and City Council Member Donovan Richards will be hosting an event filled with workshops and a memorial on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Rockaway YMCA, 207 Beach 73rd Street, Arverne, NY 11692. Representatives from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development are scheduled to speak about how to get Community Development Block Grant Disaster Relief money. The Empire State Development Corporation is slated to discuss available help for Minority & Women-Owned Business Enterprises. There will be a boardwalk memorial from 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. and the Red Cross is scheduled to give a Emergency Preparedness Demonstration from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. For more information or to RSVP, contact Lisa George at 718-327-7017 or via email at lgeorge@nysenate.gov
