Earth Day Celebration 'Clean Streets' 10th Anniversary
In 2010 Brentwood and Central Islip came together in a way that it hadn’t in many years to address the issues we were facing with crime and vandalism taking over the community! The first Paint Back the Streets event gave our community a platform for developing bonds which would have a significant impact upon our community for years to come.
Throughout the past ten years, our community has gone through many changes. However, The Clean Streets Project has remained the one constant in the community which has always focused on bringing community members together, keeping our community clean, and showing the rest of Suffolk County and Long Island that our story is one of residents who are hard-working and caring people.
By working together, we have been able to achieve what many initially thought would be possible: FORTY TONS of trash removed from the streets, OVER 400 fences painted, removing hundreds of graffiti tags, along with thousands of volunteers engaged. Our success as a community has been well documented and continues to be so. Through our collective effort we spawned new community organizations, and inspired many people to take a more active role in our community. We have truly made a difference - together.
As the Clean Streets Project reaches its 10th Anniversary, it’s important to have you back! Bringing together our original partners and those who have worked with us throughout the years will make our planning committee strong, with volunteers who are able to help us make this event a success.
Join us for a day to give back!
