Veterans' Roundtable Discussion Co-Hosted by Senators Rob Rolison and Jake Ashby

State Senator Rob Rolison (39th District) will co-host a major veterans event alongside Senator Jake Ashby (43rd District) on September 25 at 10 a.m. This invitation-only event will take place at Veterans Memorial Building in downtown Beacon.

The roundtable discussion will gather feedback from local veterans organizations in order to bolster services and improve performance at the state's Department of Veterans' Services, which was established as a standalone department in 2023. Ashby is a combat veteran whose Capital Region district includes many veterans and service personnel and is Ranking Member on the Senate's Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee.

"Our veterans deserve a louder voice in the services New York State offers them. The performance and attentiveness of the year-old Department of Veterans' Services has thus far not been in keeping with the level of professionalism and sacrifice displayed every day by our brave men and women in uniform and their families. Senator Ashby and I are gathering actionable information from local Hudson Valley veterans to change this. Please join us on Wednesday, September 25," said Rolison.

Rolison and Ashby previously collaborated on a successful effort calling on Albany to release nearly $2 million in donated funds frozen by the state and intended for veterans groups. Rolison's father, former state Senator Jay P. Rolison, Jr., was a veteran who served during the Korean War.
