Plan for a Future That Works!: Skilled Trades Fair

Who: New York State Senator Sue Serino and the Hyde Park Central School District

What: ‘Plan for a Future That Works!’ – 2022 Skilled Trades Career Fair

When: Thursday, November 3, 2022; 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Where: Franklin D. Roosevelt High School (156 S Cross Rd, Staatsburg, NY 12580) As part of an ongoing effort to engage students in the trades, Senator Sue Serino is partnering with the Hyde Park Central School District to host a free, informational trades fair to give local students the ability to learn more about different opportunities and career paths available in the local area. A diverse range of trade representatives will be available for students, young adults and parents to ask questions and to learn more about future opportunities. “Our local community is booming with opportunities for young adults to get involved in the trades field, and that often means great-paying careers with a huge potential for growth,” said Senator Sue Serino. “For students thinking about the next steps, it is so important to remember that there is no ‘one-size-fits-all approach,’ and this event is all about giving them a first-hand look at the different possibilities available to them. Our goal is always to make sure our students are prepared for the future, and that includes making them aware of careers and opportunities that they might not be thinking about or familiar with. After hosting a Trades Fair earlier this year with the Wappingers Central School District, I am thrilled to be able to partner with the Hyde Park Central School District to connect even more students with unique career opportunities.”

Aviva Kafka, Superintendent of the Hyde Park Central School District, said, "We are so pleased to co-sponsor this event for our community to share work opportunities for our youth, while at the same time support local businesses in need of a skilled workforce. I call this feeding two birds with one crumb."

Michael Ruella, Principal of Franklin D. Roosevelt High School, said, "FDR High School is excited about hosting the 2022 Skilled Trade Fair. This will be an opportunity for our students to explore all that is offered in skilled trades. It is our hope that they leave the trade fair with new and exciting insights of the various fields."
