SERINO BRINGS ‘BREAST CANCER AWARENESS DAY’ TO WALKWAY OVER THE HUDSON

With Breast Cancer Awareness Month upon us, Senator Sue Serino is partnering with the Walkway Over the Hudson to host a free ‘Breast Cancer Awareness Day’ to offer neighbors the opportunity to connect with representatives from local community organizations and health services. Event participants include:

A breast cancer survivor herself, Senator Serino recognizes how busy schedules and competing needs can prevent New Yorkers of all ages from taking the preventative steps necessary to ensure their health. That is why this unique event aims to bring critical information directly to a major local tourist attraction, where residents and visitors alike who are enjoying a day on the Walkway can take a few minutes to connect with local resources, and be inspired to follow through with their own healthcare screenings.

“With Breast Cancer Awareness Month upon us, I want to make sure our neighbors have access to the tools and services they need to get screened regularly,” said Senator Sue Serino. “The Hudson Valley is home to so many incredible resources, and I’m thrilled to be able to partner with the Walkway Over the Hudson to bring them together to meet our neighbors where they are and give them the opportunity to connect. At my own recent follow-up appointment, I learned that once again, many are using the pandemic as a reason to delay their health screenings—especially their mammograms—and we really want to use this opportunity to encourage our neighbors to put their health first, commit to making the appointment and follow through with the critical screenings that we know can make a tremendous difference when it comes to diagnosis and treatment.”

Elizabeth Waldstein, Executive Director of the Walkway Over the Hudson, said “Friends of the Walkway is pleased to help host Breast Cancer Awareness Day at the Walkway on Saturday, October 30. We are particularly proud of Senator Sue Serino's efforts to support finding a cure for Breast Cancer.”

This event will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Poughkeepsie side of the Walkway Over the Hudson (61 Parker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601), and is free and open to the public. An RSVP is not required.
