Veteran Friendly Campuses

New York State Division of Veterans’ Affairs

Senator Leibell and the New York State Division of Veterans’ Affairs are partnering to initiate a program designed to raise awareness of and address the issues facing both veterans and institutions of higher education throughout the Mid-Hudson Region.

· Increase the Retention Rate of Students who are Veterans

· Create higher rates of students and colleges taking full advantage of available benefits

· Assistance in implementing the August 1, 2009 Post-9/11 GI Bill

· Development of “Veterans Transition Centers” to educate and support administrators and students
