SFY 2018-19 JOINT LEGISLATIVE BUDGET HEARING

Senate Finance Committee Chair Catharine M. Young and Assembly Ways and Means Committee Chair Helene E. Weinstein will hold the third hearing, in a series of 13 hearings, on the 2018-2019 Executive Budget on Wednesday, January 24th, at 2:30 p.m. in Hearing Room B of the Legislative Office Building, Albany.
During the Workforce Development Hearing, government officials and representatives of various labor advocacy groups will have an opportunity to provide testimony to the Senate and Assembly fiscal committees.
These joint hearings will continue through February 13th and will be available for viewing on the Senate and Assembly websites. The Legislative Channel (on cable systems throughout the state) also will carry the proceedings, which will be preempted when the houses are in session. At the conclusion of the legislative deliberations, the channel will resume televised coverage of the hearings.
Scheduled to provide testimony are New York State Department of Civil Service Acting Commissioner Lola Brabham and New York State Governor’s Office of Employee Relations Director Michael N. Volforte.
Testimony also will be provided by Civil Service Employees Association, Inc. Legislative Director Joshua Terry, New York State Public Employees Federation President Wayne Spence, and Organization of New York State Management Confidential Employees President Barbara Zaron and Executive Director Joseph Sano.
Also among those testifying are Retired Public Employees Association President Jack McPadden and Executive Director Edward Farrell, and New York Association of Training and Employment Professionals Executive Director Melinda Mack.
Others providing testimony include representatives of New York Caring Majority: Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Association of New York State Executive Director Brian O’Malley, Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute New York Policy Director Allison Cook, National Domestic Workers Alliance Member Karla Lawrence, Jews for Racial and Economic Justice Member Sylvia Vogelman.
