Joint Legislative Public Hearing on 2016-2017 Executive Budget Proposal: Topic "Health/Medicaid"

Senate Finance Committee Chair Catharine M. Young and Assembly Ways and Means Committee Chair Herman D. Farrell, Jr. will hold the second hearing, in a series of 13 hearings, on the 2016-2017 Executive Budget on Monday, January 25, at 9:30 a.m. in Hearing Room B of the Legislative Office Building, Albany.
During the Health / Medicaid hearing, government officials and representatives of health care advocacy groups will have an opportunity to address the Senate and Assembly fiscal committees.
These joint hearings will continue through February 9th and will be available for viewing on the Senate and Assembly websites. The Legislative Channel (on cable systems throughout the state) also will carry the proceedings, which will be preempted when the houses are in session. At the conclusion of the legislative deliberations, the channel will resume televised coverage of the hearings.
Among those testifying are New York State Department of Health Commissioner Howard Zucker; and Dennis Rosen, inspector general, New York State Office of Medicaid Inspector General.
Testimony also will be provided by Dennis Whalen, president, Health Care Association of NYS – HANYS; Kenneth Raske, president, Greater New York Hospital Association; Joseph MacDonald, MD, president and Elizabeth Dears, chief legislative counsel, Medical Society State of New York; and Stephen Hanse, vice-president/counsel and Mark Olsen, chairman, and Doug Wissman, chairman, New York State Health Facilities Association.
Also providing testimony are Laura Haight, vice president, Public Policy, NYS Association of Health Care Providers; Helen Schaub, policy director, 1199 SEIU; Ami Schnauber, vice president, Advocacy/Public Policy and James W. Clyne, Jr., president / CEO, LeadingAge New York; Elizabeth Swain, president / CEO, Community Health Care Association of NYS; and Steven Sanders, executive director, Agencies for Children's Therapy Services.
