SFY 2018-19 JOINT LEGISLATIVE BUDGET HEARING

Senate Finance Committee Chair Catharine M. Young and Assembly Ways and Means Committee Chair Helene E. Weinstein will hold the sixth hearing, in a series of 13 hearings, on the 2018-2019 Executive Budget on Tuesday, January 30th, at 9:30 a.m. in Hearing Room B of the Legislative Office Building, Albany.
During the Public Protection Hearing, government officials and representatives of various law enforcement and public safety advocacy groups will provide testimony to the Senate and Assembly fiscal committees.
These joint hearings will continue through February 13th and will be available for viewing on the Senate and Assembly websites. The Legislative Channel (on cable systems throughout the state) also will carry the proceedings, which will be preempted when the houses are in session. At the conclusion of the legislative deliberations, the channel will resume televised coverage of the hearings.
Testimony is scheduled from the New York State Office of Court Administration Chief Administrative Judge Lawrence K. Marks, New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct Administrator and Counsel Robert Tembeckjian, New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services Commissioner Roger Parrino, and New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services Executive Deputy Commissioner Michael C. Green.
Also providing testimony are New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Acting Commissioner Anthony J. Annucci, New York State Division of State Police Superintendent George Beach II, New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services Director Bill Leahy, and New York State Office of Information Technology Services Chief Information Officer Robert H. Samson.
Testimony is also expected from Susan Bryant, Deputy Director, New York State Defenders Association; Justine Longo, Esquire, Attorney, Legal Aid Society; and Maha Syed, Executive Director, New York Legal Services Coalition.
Others testifying include Chris McNerney, Sergeant, Port Authority Police Department, Police Conference of New York; Bing Markee, Legislative Director, New York State Associations of the Police Benevolent Association; Thomas Mungeer, President, New York State Troopers Police Benevolent Association; and Michael Powers, President, and Tommy Sawchuk, Executive Vice President, New York State Correctional Officers Police Benevolent Association.
