Provides that a hearing shall be held before a workers compensation law judge within twenty days from the filing of an application for hearing accompanied by supporting evidence made by any party in any case, except a case being initially controverted.

AN ACT to amend the workers'  compensation  law,  in  relation  to  time
  frames  for certain hearings; and to repeal subdivision 2-b of section
  25 of the workers' compensation law, relating to conciliation

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  Paragraph (b) of subdivision 3 of section 25 of the work-
ers' compensation law, as amended by chapter 61 of the laws of 1986,  is
amended to read as follows:
  (b)  Nothing herein shall limit the right of the board in a particular
case to hold a hearing and  make  an  award  in  accordance  with  other
provisions  of  this  chapter. No case shall be closed without notice to
all parties interested and without giving to all such parties an  oppor-
tunity  to  be heard.  A HEARING SHALL BE HELD BEFORE A WORKERS' COMPEN-
SATION LAW JUDGE WITHIN TWENTY DAYS FROM THE FILING  OF  AN  APPLICATION
FOR  HEARING ACCOMPANIED BY SUPPORTING EVIDENCE MADE BY ANY PARTY IN ANY
CASE, EXCEPT A CASE BEING INITIALLY CONTROVERTED.
  S 2. Subdivision 2-b of section 25 of the workers' compensation law is
REPEALED.
  S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
