AN  ACT relating to the dissolution of the Sanford fire district and the
  establishment of the Sanford fire protection district

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  Except as otherwise provided in this act, the dissolution
of the Sanford fire district located in  the  town  of  Sanford,  Broome
county, and the establishment of the Sanford fire protection district by
the  town  board  of the town of Sanford, Broome county, and all actions
taken in anticipation or as a result thereof, shall be governed  by  all
applicable  general,  special and local laws, including, but not limited
to, article 11 of the town law.
  S 2. Notwithstanding subdivision 1 of section 170 of the town law, the
town board of the town of Sanford may, upon the receipt of the  petition
to dissolve the town of Sanford fire district pursuant to section 185 of
the  town  law, adopt a resolution establishing the town of Sanford fire
protection district, town of Sanford, Broome county according to article
11 of the town law.
  S 3. Notwithstanding section 185 of the town law or any  other  incon-
sistent  provisions  of  the  law,  upon dissolution of the Sanford fire
district in the town of Sanford, Broome county, and the creation of  the
Sanford  fire  protection  district, all fire equipment and apparatus of
the Sanford fire district shall,  without  consideration  therefore,  be
transferred to and become the property of the town of Sanford.
  S  4.  Notwithstanding  any  inconsistent  provision  of law, upon the
dissolution of the town of Sanford fire district and  the  establishment
of  the  town  of  Sanford  fire  protection  district  any and all cash
balances and investments held by said fire district shall be transferred
to the town of Sanford. Such moneys shall be used  for  payment  of  any
remaining  outstanding liabilities of the Stanford fire district and any

AN ACT to authorize the town of Sanford, in the  county  of  Broome,  to
  dissolve  the  Sanford  fire  district  and establish the Sanford fire
  protection district

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the
town of Sanford, in the county of Broome, acting by and through its town
board, is hereby authorized, without receipt of a petition  pursuant  to
the  provisions of section 185 of the town law and without the necessity
of conducting a public hearing, to adopt  a  resolution  dissolving  the
town  of Sanford fire district and establishing the town of Sanford fire
protection district the boundaries of which shall  be  coterminous  with
those of the former town of Sanford fire district.
  S  2.  Notwithstanding section 185 of the town law or any other incon-
sistent provisions of the law, upon  dissolution  of  the  Sanford  fire
district  in  the  town  of  Sanford,  in  the county of Broome, and the
creation of the Sanford fire protection district, all fire equipment and
apparatus of the Sanford  fire  district  shall,  without  consideration
therefor,  be  transferred  to  and  become  the property of the town of
Sanford.
  S 3. Notwithstanding any  inconsistent  provision  of  law,  upon  the
dissolution  of  the town of Sanford fire district and the establishment
of the town of  Sanford  fire  protection  district  any  and  all  cash
balances and investments held by said fire district shall be transferred
to  the  town  of  Sanford. Such moneys shall be used for payment of any
remaining outstanding liabilities of the Sanford fire district  and  any
balance remaining after payment of such liabilities shall be transferred
to  the  town  of  Sanford. The payment of principal and interest on any
outstanding bonds or notes issued by the Sanford fire district shall  be
assumed by said town.
  S 4. This act shall take effect immediately.
