BILL NUMBER:A8658 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the insurance law, in relation to requiring coverage for hospitalization and anesthesia services related to the provision of dental services PURPOSE OF BILL: This legislation would require health insurance poli- cies to cover hospitalization and anesthesia charges in connection with dental care in specified cases. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: See bill JUSTIFICATION: Under existing provisions of the Insurance Law, an insured is entitled to coverage for hospitalization and anesthesia for various medical conditions. However, dental ailments are not considered a medical condition and such coverage has been heretofore not included in law.
