The bill also adds a new section 3-305 to the Village Law which provides that a village may, subject to permissive referendum, appoint a local high school senior to a one year term. JUSTIFICATION : The legislation is similar to legislation which allows students to be non voting members of school boards. The appointment would be a recognition by the community of its interest in student participation in local government. LEGISLATIVE HISTORY : New bill.
