AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to prices on menus

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. The general business law is amended by adding a new section
396-rrr to read as follows:
  S 396-RRR. PRICES ON MENUS. A PERSON OR  CORPORATION  ENGAGED  IN  THE
PREPARATION  AND  SALE  OF  FOOD IN ANY HOTEL, PUBLIC RESTAURANT, PUBLIC
DINING ROOM, DINING CAR, DRUG STORE, SODA FOUNTAIN, STEAMBOAT OR IN  ANY
OTHER PLACE WHERE FOOD IS PREPARED, SOLD OR SERVED FOR AND TO THE GENER-
AL  PUBLIC IN THIS STATE SHALL LIST THE PRICE OF EACH AND EVERY ITEM SET
FORTH ON THE MENU DISTRIBUTED OR EXHIBITED TO CUSTOMERS EXCEPT  FOR  THE
PRICE OF SEASONAL OR SPECIAL ORDER ITEMS.
  S  2. This act shall take effect one year after it shall have become a
law.
