AN  ACT  to  amend the education law, in relation to authorizing certain
  students to take the general education  development  test  at  sixteen
  years of age

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section  3205  of  the  education  law  is
amended by adding a new paragraph d to read as follows:
  D.  A  MINOR  WITH  A  COMMITMENT LETTER FROM AN ACCREDITED COLLEGE OR
UNIVERSITY SHALL BE ELIGIBLE TO TAKE THE GENERAL EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
EXAM AT THE EARLIEST  DATE  THE  EXAM  IS  OFFERED  AFTER  SUCH  MINOR'S
SIXTEENTH BIRTHDAY.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
