2009-A2142 (ACTIVE) - Summary

Increases the moneys made available for the purposes of spaying, neutering and animal cruelty prevention by increasing the annual dog license fee for a spayed or neutered dog from $2.50 to $3.50, and for an unspayed or unneutered dog from $7.50 to $8.50; increases the two year dog license fee for a spayed or neutered dog from $5 to $7, and for an unspayed or unneutered dog from $15 to $17; and for a three year dog license for a spayed or neutered dog from $7.50 to $10.50, and for an unspayed or unneutered dog from $22.50 to $25.50.

AN ACT to amend the agriculture and markets law, in relation to increas-
  ing funds available for the purpose of spaying, neutering  and  animal
  cruelty prevention

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 110 of the agriculture and markets
law, as amended by chapter 86 of the laws of 2006, is amended to read as
follows:
  1. The license fee for each dog license issued pursuant to subdivision
one of section one hundred nine of this article shall be:
  (a) [two] THREE dollars and fifty cents for each  spayed  or  neutered
dog  and  [seven]  EIGHT  dollars  and  fifty cents for each unspayed or
unneutered dog licensed for one year;
  (b) [five] SEVEN dollars for each spayed or neutered dog and [fifteen]
SEVENTEEN dollars for each unspayed or unneutered dog licensed  for  two
years;
  (c)  [seven]  TEN  dollars and fifty cents for each spayed or neutered
dog and [twenty-two]  TWENTY-FIVE  dollars  and  fifty  cents  for  each
unspayed or unneutered dog licensed for three years.
  S  2.  This  act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall
have become a law and shall apply to dog licenses  issued  on  or  after
such effective date.
