S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 3836 2009-2010 Regular Sessions I N A S S E M B L Y January 28, 2009 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. LENTOL -- read once and referred to the Committee on Health AN ACT directing the commissioner of health to establish special food safety rules and regulations for soup kitchens THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The commissioner of health is hereby authorized and directed to promulgate special rules and regulations establishing food safety guidelines for a soup kitchen or similar facility that engages in the preparation and service of food to individuals at no charge and that serves sixty or fewer people. Such regulations shall take into account the financial limitations of operating such facilities, including the limited ability to purchase service equipment and/or supplies, and shall apply to any vehicle used by the facility to serve food to such individuals. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD05915-01-9
