S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 4571 2009-2010 Regular Sessions I N A S S E M B L Y February 5, 2009 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. MORELLE, KOON -- read once and referred to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the general municipal law, in relation to the speed limit of the towns of Brighton, Greece, Ogden, Webster, Penfield, and Irondequoit THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The article heading of article 9 of the general municipal law is amended to read as follows: REGULATION OF USE OF CARS, BICYCLES AND [SIMILAR] OTHER VEHICLES S 2. The general municipal law is amended by adding a new section 182 to read as follows: S 182. SPEED LIMITS FOR CERTAIN TOWNS. NOTWITHSTANDING SECTION ONE THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED SIXTY-TWO-A OF THE VEHICLE AND TRAFFIC LAW, IN THE TOWNS OF BRIGHTON, GREECE, IRONDEQUOIT, OGDEN, WEBSTER, AND PENFIELD, SPEED LIMITS APPLICABLE THROUGHOUT SUCH TOWNS OR WITHIN DESIGNATED AREAS OF SUCH TOWNS MAY BE ESTABLISHED AT NOT LESS THAN TWENTY-FIVE MILES PER HOUR. S 3. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD03459-01-9
