McDONOUGH, ALFANO -- Multi-Sponsored by -- M. of A. BARRA -- read once and referred to the Committee on Correction AN ACT to amend the correction law, in relation to knowingly harboring a sex offender who has failed to register or verify THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The correction law is amended by adding a new section 168- ii to read as follows: S 168-II. FAILURE TO NOTIFY; PENALTY. ANY PERSON WHO KNOWINGLY HARBORS, HOUSES OR EMPLOYS A SEX OFFENDER REQUIRED TO REGISTER OR TO VERIFY RESIDENCE OR EMPLOYMENT PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ARTI- CLE WHO HAS FAILED TO REGISTER OR TO VERIFY AS REQUIRED BY LAW, AND WHO FAILS TO NOTIFY HIS OR HER LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY OF THE LOCATION OF SUCH SEX OFFENDER, SHALL BE GUILTY OF A CLASS A MISDEMEANOR. S 2. This act shall take effect on the first of November next succeed- ing the date on which it shall have become a law.
