BILL NUMBER: S1315 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the public authorities law, in relation to authorizing the dormitory authority to finance the acquisition, construction, reconstruction, renovation and improvement of housing facilities for not-for-profit corporations and associations organized to further the purposes of the state university of New York PURPOSE : To provide for the design, construction and financing through the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York of housing facilities by not-for-profit corporations and associations organized to further the purposes of the State University. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : The legislation amends Public Authorities Law §1676(2)(b) and 1680(1) to authorize construction and financing by the Dormitory Authority of student, faculty and staff housing by not-for-profit corporations and associations organized by State University officers, employees, alumni and students to further the purposes of the State University. EXISTING LAW : Pursuant to provisions of the Education Law and Public Authorities law, the Dormitory Authority is authorized to construct and finance

LAVALLE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to authorizing the dormitory authority to finance the acquisition, construction, reconstruction, renovation and improvement of housing facilities for not-for-profit corporations and associations organized to further the purposes of the state university of New York THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph (b) of subdivision 2 of section 1676 of the public authorities law is amended by adding a new undesignated paragraph to read as follows: ANY NOT-FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION OR ASSOCIATION ORGANIZED BY OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, ALUMNI OR STUDENTS OF THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK TO FURTHER THE PURPOSES OF THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK, IN CONNECTION WITH THE FINANCING, REFINANCING, ACQUISITION, DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, RECONSTRUCTION, REHABILITATION, IMPROVEMENT, FURNISHING AND EQUIPPING OF, OR OTHERWISE PROVIDING FOR, HOUSING FACILITIES FOR THE USE OF STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF OF THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK. S 2. Subdivision 1 of section 1680 of the public authorities law is amended by adding a new undesignated paragraph to read as follows: ANY NOT-FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION OR ASSOCIATION ORGANIZED BY OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, ALUMNI OR STUDENTS OF THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK TO FURTHER THE PURPOSES OF THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK, IN CONNECTION WITH THE FINANCING, REFINANCING, ACQUISITION, DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, RECONSTRUCTION, REHABILITATION, IMPROVEMENT, FURNISHING AND EQUIPPING OF, OR OTHERWISE PROVIDING FOR, HOUSING FACILITIES FOR THE USE OF STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF OF THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK; PROVIDED HOWEVER, THAT ANY SUCH HOUSING FACILITIES TO BE FINANCED, REFI- NANCED, ACQUIRED, DESIGNED, CONSTRUCTED, RECONSTRUCTED, REHABILITATED, EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
