BILL NUMBER: S1654 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the executive law, in relation to requiring internet accessibility to videos and photographs of certain unsolved robberies PURPOSE : To create, on the web site of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, a listing of all the video and/or photographs, when it is available, from every unsolved armed robbery in New York State. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section 1 of the bill states that the home page of the Division of Criminal Justice Services must include video and/or photographs, when available, from every unsolved armed robbery occurring in New York State. DeFRANCISCO, GOLDEN, LARKIN, MORAHAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Finance AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to requiring internet accessibility to videos and photographs of certain unsolved robberies THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 6 of section 843 of the executive law, as renumbered by chapter 490 of the laws of 2000, is renumbered subdivision 7 and a new subdivision 6 is added to read as follows: 6. SUCH HOMEPAGE SHALL ALSO CONTAIN VIDEOS AND/OR PHOTOGRAPHS FROM ROBBERIES IN THIS STATE WHERE: (A) THE PERSON WHO COMMITTED THE ROBBERY WAS ARMED WITH A DEADLY WEAP- ON; (B) EACH PERSON INVOLVED IN THE ROBBERY HAS NOT BEEN ARRESTED FOR SUCH ROBBERY; AND (C) SUCH VIDEOS AND/OR PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE ROBBERY EXIST. S 2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next succeed- ing the date upon which it shall have become a law and the division of criminal justice services is immediately authorized and directed to take any and all actions necessary to implement the provisions of this act on its effective date.
