Directs the department of state to establish and maintain a statewide registry of mental hygiene and child supervision residential facilities which shall include residential facilities for juvenile delinquents and persons in need of supervision subject to the supervision of the office of children and family services, for the mentally ill subject to the supervision of the office of mental health, for the mentally retarded and developmentally disabled subject to the supervision of the office of mental retardation and developmental disabilities, and for the chemically dependent subject to the supervision of the office of alcoholism and substance abuse services.

BILL NUMBER: S2234 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the executive law, in relation to directing the department of state to establish a statewide registry of mental hygiene and child supervision residential facilities PURPOSE : Directs the Department of State to establish a statewide registry of mental hygiene and child supervision residential facilities. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : This bill would create new section 101 of the Executive Law, in relation to the statewide registry of mental hygiene and child supervision residential facilities. The bill would require the Department of State to establish and maintain a statewide registry of mental hygiene and child supervision residential facilities. This registry will be composed of the name and address of every residential housing facility in New York State. Furthermore, this registry will be regularly updated and maintained in an accurate manner by the State Department. The general public will have access to this registry in print and in electronic form on a website also maintained by the State Department. A copy of this registry must also be given to the legislature not less than twice a year. EXISTING LAW :

The executive law is amended by adding a new section 101 to read as follows: S 101. STATEWIDE REGISTRY OF MENTAL HYGIENE AND CHILD SUPERVISION RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES. 1. THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE SHALL ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN A STATEWIDE REGISTRY OF MENTAL HYGIENE AND CHILD SUPERVISION RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES. SUCH REGISTRY SHALL BE COMPOSED OF THE NAME AND ADDRESS OF EVERY RESIDENTIAL HOUSING FACILITY: A. SUBJECT TO SUPERVISION OF THE OFFICE OF CHILDREN AND FAMILY SERVICES PURSUANT TO ARTICLE NINETEEN-G OF THIS CHAPTER; B. SUBJECT TO REGULATION OF THE OFFICE OF MENTAL HEALTH PURSUANT TO THE MENTAL HYGIENE LAW; C. SUBJECT TO THE REGULATION OF THE OFFICE OF MENTAL RETARDATION AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES; AND D. SUBJECT TO THE REGULATION OF THE OFFICE OF ALCOHOLISM AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES. 2.
