  printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation

AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation  to  reflective
  material on stop signs

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. The vehicle and traffic law is  amended  by  adding  a  new
section 1172-a to read as follows:
  S  1172-A.  REFLECTIVE  MATERIAL ON STOP SIGNS. THE COMMISSIONER SHALL
REQUIRE ALL MUNICIPALITIES TO INSTALL  REFLECTIVE  MATERIALS  ALONG  THE
LENGTH OF POLES SUPPORTING STOP SIGNS.
  S 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
it  shall have become a law, provided, however, that the commissioner of
motor vehicles shall promulgate any rules and regulations necessary  for
the timely implementation of this act.
