BILL NUMBER: S2424 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the domestic relations law and the family court act, in relation to review of reports of the statewide computerized registry of orders of protection and family court warrants of arrest PURPOSE : Amends section 240 of the Domestic Relations Law-and amends section 651 of the Family Court Act. This bill makes technical corrections to provisions requiring the court to review of warrants of arrest when considering orders of custody or visitation. JUSTIFICATION : This bill is a chapter amendment to chapter 595 of the laws of 2008. It is necessary to remove the requirement for courts to review warrants, generally, due to a problem with coordinating computer databases. Therefore, the warrants to be reviewed by the court are limited by this bill to family court warrants. LEGISLATIVE HISTORY : Chapter amendment to A.11657-A/S.8569A Ch. 595 of the Laws of 2008. DeFRANCISCO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Children and Families AN ACT to amend the domestic relations law and the family court act, in relation to review of reports of the statewide computerized registry of orders of protection and family court warrants of arrest THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Clause (ii) of subparagraph 1 of paragraph (a-1) of subdi- vision 1 of section 240 of the domestic relations law, as added by chap- ter 595 of the laws of 2008, is amended to read as follows: (ii) reports of the statewide computerized registry of orders of protection and FAMILY COURT warrants of arrest established and main- tained pursuant to section two hundred twenty-one-a of the executive law, and reports of the sex offender registry established and maintained pursuant to section one hundred sixty-eight-b of the correction law. S 2. Subparagraph (ii) of paragraph 1 of subdivision (e) of section 651 of the family court act, as added by chapter 595 of the laws of 2008, is amended to read as follows: (ii) reports of the statewide computerized registry of orders of protection and FAMILY COURT warrants of arrest established and main- tained pursuant to section two hundred twenty-one-a of the executive law, and reports of the sex offender registry established and maintained pursuant to section one hundred sixty-eight-b of the correction law. S 3. This act shall take effect immediately or upon the effective date of chapter 595 of the laws of 2008, whichever shall occur later.
