BILL NUMBER: S3188 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to terminal leave PURPOSE : Affords members of the New York City police force and fire department the option of taking a monetary payment in lieu of terminal leave. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : § 1 - amends the administrative code of the city of New York by adding a new § 14-152 - allowing members of the New York City police force to take a monetary payment in lieu of terminal leave. §2 - amends the administrative code of the city of New York by adding a new § 15-129 - allowing members of the New York City Fire Department to take a monetary payment in lieu of terminal leave. EXISTING LAW : Currently, members accrue terminal leave at a rate of three days for every year of service and can utilize such leave immediately prior to retirement. JUSTIFICATION :

SAVINO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Cities AN ACT to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to terminal leave THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 14-152 to read as follows: S 14-152 TERMINAL LEAVE. NOTWITHSTANDING THE PROVISIONS OF ANY GENER- AL, SPECIAL OR LOCAL LAW, CODE, RESOLUTION OR CHARTER TO THE CONTRARY, MEMBERS OF THE NEW YORK CITY POLICE FORCE SHALL BE AFFORDED THE OPTION OF TAKING A MONETARY PAYMENT IN LIEU OF TERMINAL LEAVE AT THE RATE APPLICABLE ON THE DATE OF RETIREMENT. S 2. The administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 15-129 to read as follows: S 15-129 TERMINAL LEAVE.
