BILL NUMBER: S3279 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend chapter 84 of the laws of 2002 authorizing the New York state urban development corporation and the dormitory authority of the state of New York to issue bonds or notes for the purpose of financing certain project costs, in relation to centers of excellence PURPOSE : To add the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center of the State University of New York at Stony Brook to the Centers for Excellence Program. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Adds a new paragraph (iii) to section (3)(a) of Part T of chapter 84 of the Laws of2002. JUSTIFICATION : The Centers for Excellence program supports high technology ventures through a collaborative approach among the state academia and various partners both public and private Programs selected to be centers have the potential to rapidly bring technological innovation to the market place. The Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center at Stony Brook's developing advanced cutting edge technologies to explore new ways to produce clean energy, enhance production from reliable sources

ENGLEBRIGHT -- read once and referred to the Committee on Economic Development, Job Creation, Commerce and Industry AN ACT to amend chapter 84 of the laws of 2002 authorizing the New York state urban development corporation and the dormitory authority of the state of New York to issue bonds or notes for the purpose of financing certain project costs, in relation to centers of excellence THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision (a) of section 3 of part T of chapter 84 of the laws of 2002 authorizing the New York state urban development corpo- ration and the dormitory authority of the state of New York to issue bonds or notes for the purpose of financing certain project costs, is amended by adding a new paragraph (iii) to read as follows: (III) THE CENTER OF EXCELLENCE PROGRAM SHALL INCLUDE THE ADVANCED ENERGY RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY CENTER (AERTC) AT THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK AT STONY BROOK.
