BILL NUMBER: S4762 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the executive law, in relation to the flying of September eleventh remembrance flags PURPOSE : This bill would provide for a September 11th Remembrance Flag which every City, town and village is encouraged to display at the building housing its local legislative body on all days on which the flag of the United States of America is displayed. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : An act to amend the Executive Law adding a new section 403-b, relating to the daily display of a September Eleventh Remembrance Flag. JUSTIFICATION : In tribute to the fallen heroes and loved ones of the 9/11 attack, this flag will be a year-long tribute and a daily reminder that our resolve as Americans, and New Yorkers will never be compromised. To be raised daily, and prominently displayed alongside our own American and New York flags, this banner will further symbolize the steadfastness and determination of the citizens of New York State. NOZZOLIO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Finance AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to the flying of Septem- ber eleventh remembrance flags THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The executive law is amended by adding a new section 403-c to read as follows: S 403-C. DISPLAY OF SEPTEMBER ELEVENTH REMEMBRANCE FLAG. EVERY CITY, TOWN, AND VILLAGE IS ENCOURAGED TO DISPLAY A SEPTEMBER ELEVENTH REMEM- BRANCE FLAG AT THE BUILDING HOUSING ITS LOCAL LEGISLATIVE BODY ON ALL DAYS ON WHICH THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IS DISPLAYED.
