S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 23 Eighth Extraordinary Session I N S E N A T E June 29, 2009 ___________ Introduced by COMMITTEE ON RULES -- (at request of the Governor) -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend chapter 92 of the laws of 2001, amending the election law relating to the election ballot and canvassing write-in votes, in relation to extending the expiration of the provisions of such chapter THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 3 of chapter 92 of the laws of 2001, amending the election law relating to the election ballot and canvassing write-in votes, as amended by chapter 187 of the laws of 2008, is amended to read as follows: S 3. This act shall take effect immediately; provided, however, that the amendments to sections 7-114 and 9-102 of the election law made by sections one and two of this act shall expire and be deemed repealed [8] 9 years after the effective date of this act when upon such date the provisions of such sections shall revert and be read as such provisions existed on the date immediately preceding the effective date of this act. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD10235-01-9
