BILL NUMBER: S7120 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to clearly marking certain pedestrian crosswalks in any city having a population of one million or more persons PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL : The purpose of this bill is to clearly mark curb cuts and crosswalks that are not at obvious intersections. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS : Section 1 amends the administrative code of the city of New York by adding § 19-112.1 to read as follows: All pedestrian crosswalks and ramps, not located at street intersections, shall be clearly marked and painted. This provision shall apply to both new and reconstructed crosswalk ramps. JUSTIFICATION : Current law does not require the marking of any crosswalks or curb cuts. Recently New York City has installed crosswalks and curb cuts at "T" intersections. These crosswalks and curb cuts, which did not

HUNTLEY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Cities AN ACT to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to clearly marking certain pedestrian crosswalks in any city having a population of one million or more persons THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 19-112.1 to read as follows: S 19-112.1 MARKING CERTAIN PEDESTRIAN CROSSWALKS AND RAMPS. ALL PEDES- TRIAN CROSSWALKS AND RAMPS, NOT LOCATED AT STREET INTERSECTIONS, SHALL BE CLEARLY MARKED AND PAINTED. THIS PROVISION SHALL APPLY TO BOTH NEW AND RECONSTRUCTED CROSSWALKS AND RAMPS. S 2.
