WRIGHT -- read once and referred to the Committee on Social Services AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to expedited service in the food stamp program THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 95 of the social services law is amended by adding a new subdivision 12 to read as follows: 12. WHENEVER A PERSON MAKES AN APPLICATION FOR EXPEDITED SERVICE OF THE FOOD STAMP PROGRAM PURSUANT TO SECTION 387.8 OF TITLE 18 OF THE NEW YORK STATE CODES, RULES, AND REGULATIONS, THE LOCAL DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES SHALL PROVIDE SUCH FOOD STAMPS TO SUCH APPLICANT WITHIN THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY IF IT IS DETERMINED THAT THE APPLICANT IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM. S 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
