GIBSON -- read once and referred to the Committee on Higher Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to requiring the city university of New York to implement an application fee waiver policy that exempts applicants whose families receive public assistance THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 6206 of the education law is amended by adding a new subdivision 17 to read as follows: 17. THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES SHALL DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT AN APPLICATION FEE WAIVER POLICY FOR APPLICANTS SEEKING UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION WHOSE FAMILIES RECEIVE PUBLIC ASSISTANCE PURSUANT TO THE SOCIAL SERVICES LAW. S 2. This act shall take effect on the sixtieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
