BOYLAND, CORWIN, GIGLIO, HAYES, JAFFEE, MAYERSOHN, McDONOUGH, McKEVITT, PERRY, RAIA, SWEENEY, WEISENBERG -- read once and referred to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to custom plates for veterans THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new section 404-x to read as follows: S 404-X. CUSTOM PLATES FOR VETERANS, WAIVER OF FEE. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF LAW TO THE CONTRARY, THE TWENTY-EIGHT DOLLAR FEE FOR CUSTOM PLATES IS HEREBY WAIVED IN THE CASE OF AN APPLICATION THERE- FOR BY ANY VETERAN OF SERVICE IN THE ARMED FORCES OF THE UNITED STATES. THIS WAIVER APPLIES ONLY TO THE FEE FOR THE CUSTOM PLATE AND DOES NOT APPLY TO THE VETERAN CUSTOM PLATE WITH VANITY LETTERING. S 2. This act shall take effect on the first of May next succeeding the date on which it shall have become a law.
