KAVANAGH, P. RIVERA, STEVENSON -- read once and referred to the Committee on Election Law AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to the form of election ballots THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 3 of section 7-108 of the election law is amended to read as follows: 3. In every instance where multiple casting of votes is permitted for two or more candidates for the same office or position, the instruction on the ballot or machine shall read "Vote for any.........", (the blank space to be filled with the number of persons to be nominated for the office or elected to the position). SUCH INSTRUCTIONS ON THE BALLOT OR MACHINE OR ON ANY DISPLAY OR DOCUMENT CONTAINING SUCH INSTRUCTION SHALL BE IN BOLD-FACED, TEN POINT TYPE AND UNDERLINED FOR THE NUMBER AFTER THE WORDS "VOTE FOR ANY" NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF THIS ARTICLE TO THE CONTRARY. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD00065-01-1
