WEISENBERG -- read once and referred to the Committee on Mental Health AN ACT to amend the mental hygiene law, in relation to duties of provid- ers of services for the developmentally disabled THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 31.11 of the mental hygiene law is amended by adding a new subdivision 6 to read as follows: 6. PROVIDING AN INDEPENDENT MEDICAL EXAMINATION AT A HOSPITAL, URGENT CARE OR SIMILAR INSTITUTION WHENEVER AN ALLEGATION OF ABUSE OR NEGLECT OF A CHILD OR ADULT UNDER SUCH CARE IS REPORTED. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD14979-01-2
