HAYES, FINCH, MONTESANO -- Multi-Sponsored by -- M. of A. BURLING, HAWLEY, KOLB, McDONOUGH -- read once and referred to the Committee on Codes AN ACT to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to speedy trial time limitations for traffic infractions THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 30.30 of the criminal procedure law is amended by adding a new paragraph (e) to read as follows: (E) SIXTY DAYS OF THE COMMISSION OF AN OFFENSE WHEREIN THE DEFENDANT IS ACCUSED OF A TRAFFIC INFRACTION AS THAT TERM IS DEFINED IN SUBDIVI- SION TWO OF SECTION 10.00 OF THE PENAL LAW. S 2. Subdivision 2 of section 30.10 of the criminal procedure law is amended by adding a new paragraph (e) to read as follows: (E) A PROSECUTION FOR A TRAFFIC INFRACTION MUST BE COMMENCED WITHIN SIXTY DAYS AFTER THE COMMISSION THEREOF. S 3. This act shall take effect on the first of November next succeed- ing the date on which it shall have become a law.
