MAGEE -- read once and referred to the Committee on Real Property Taxation AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to the practice of veter- inary medicine THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 6701 of the education law, as amended by chapter 234 of the laws of 1996, is amended to read as follows: S 6701. Definition of practice of veterinary medicine. The practice of the profession of veterinary medicine is defined as diagnosing, treating, operating, or prescribing for any animal disease, pain, inju- ry, deformity or DENTAL OR physical condition, or the subcutaneous insertion of a microchip intended to be used to identify an animal. "Animal" includes every living creature except a human being. S 2. Section 6705 of the education law is amended by adding a new paragraph 14 to read as follows: 14. ANY PERSON WHO CAN DEMONSTRATE TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE COMMIS- SIONER THAT HE OR SHE WAS ENGAGED IN THE PRACTICE OF WHAT IS COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS "FLOATING TEETH" OR BITE ADJUSTMENT SHALL BE EXEMPT FROM THE REQUIREMENT TO BE LICENSED FOR THE LIMITED PURPOSE OF FLOATING TEETH OR BITE ADJUSTMENT IN HORSES.
