LANCMAN -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to enacting the regents exams real readiness act THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Short title. This act shall be known and may be cited as the "regents exams real readiness act". S 2. Section 211 of the education law is amended by adding a new subdivision 3 to read as follows: 3. THE REGENTS SHALL ESTABLISH AS THE PASSING SCORE ON THE BASIC MATH- EMATICS AND ENGLISH REGENTS EXAMINATIONS THAT SCORE WHICH IN THE DETER- MINATION OF THE COMMISSIONER INDICATES A READINESS FOR POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION. S 3. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
