BILL NUMBER:S4832 TITLE OF BILL: An act in relation to empowering the governor of the state of New York to appoint either the New York state department of transportation or the New York city department of transportation to take the leading role in coordinating projects within New York city costing over twenty million dollars PURPOSE: The purpose of this bill is to organize the multiple layers of jurisdiction over transportation projects in New York City by appointing a lead representative to act as a coordinator between each agency and implement a system to prevent any unnecessary or redundant construction work. SAVINO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT in relation to empowering the governor of the state of New York to appoint either the New York state department of transportation or the New York city department of transportation to take the leading role in coordinating projects within New York city costing over twenty million dollars THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Coordination of transportation projects. 1. Any project within the city of New York costing more than twenty million dollars to be undertaken by either the New York state department of transportation or the New York city department of transportation shall be subject to the provisions of this act. 2. No less than ninety days before the start of any such project, the governor of the state of New York shall appoint either the New York state department of transportation or the New York city department of transportation to take the leading role in implementing such project. 3. The agency appointed by the governor shall coordinate monthly meet- ings, to be held ninety, sixty and thirty days before the start of such project, for coordinating the scheduling of such project and discussing how to implement such project without any unnecessary or redundant work. S 2. This act shall take effect on the sixtieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
