LUPARDO -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Labor AN ACT to amend the labor law, in relation to regulating the use of diacetyl THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 21 of the labor law is amended by adding a new subdivision 14 to read as follows: 14. A. SHALL PROMULGATE RULES AND REGULATIONS, IN CONSULTATION WITH THE COMMISSIONERS OF ANY OTHER DEPARTMENT HE OR SHE DEEMS NECESSARY, GOVERNING THE USE OF DIACETYL. B. FOR PURPOSES OF THIS SUBDIVISION, "DIACETYL" IS A COMPOUND OFTEN USED AS A FOOD FLAVORING, THAT IS A NATURAL BYPRODUCT OF FERMENTATION BUT MAY ALSO BE SYNTHESIZED BY CHEMICAL MANUFACTURERS. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD07058-01-3
