ROSENTHAL -- read once and referred to the Committee on Health AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to requiring regu- lations mandating home care service workers to receive biennial CPR training THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The public health law is amended by adding a new section 3604 to read as follows: S 3604. MANDATORY CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION TRAINING. THE COMMIS- SIONER SHALL PROMULGATE REGULATIONS REQUIRING HOME CARE SERVICE WORKERS PROVIDING HOME CARE SERVICES UNDER THIS ARTICLE TO RECEIVE BIENNIAL CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION. THE RULES AND REGULATIONS SHALL REQUIRE SUCH TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS TO BE MAIN- TAINED AS CURRENT PURSUANT TO THE REQUIREMENTS ESTABLISHED BY THE AMERI- CAN RED CROSS OR THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION. S 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
